Special part Cutting materials: PKD saves 80 percent processing costs

The company Eurosealings in Schelle near Antwerp specializes in sophisticated seals made of Hastelloy, Inconel, other high-strength metal alloys and different PTFE grades. They are suitable for pressures up to 6,800 bar at temperatures from -269 ° C to 980 ° C. They resist almost all aggressive media. No wonder, therefore, that high-performance tools are also used in production.

Learning with responsibility - Paul-Horn apprentices build their own "crate" for the "British Pedal Car Grand Prix"

Every one knows the german proverb "den Karren gemeinsam aus dem Dreck ziehen" (engl.: Pull the cart out of the muck together.). In German, at least. This sentence was almost literally taken by Paul Horn. Although the company from Tübingen is by no means in the marsh business, but in the context of a company sports project, trainees always make common cause to participate in the "British Pedal Car Grand Prix" - with a self-built vehicle, of course. If you think of a "pedal car" on a soap box with pedal cranks and backyard baskets, you're wrong. Thanks to Paul Horn's company know-how and a cooperation with Roding Automobile, the third generation of the racing equipment has developed a product that has many technological refinements, but can also be sensibly perceived as a moving sculpture.

    Economical large-scale machining

Airplanes such as the Airbus A 380 with almost 600 tonnes of take-off weight, 400-meter-long ships with 500,000 gross tonnage containers or a loading capacity of 18,000 containers are already normal. Large is economical. Large components have a future. The global trend for the production of alternative energies also leads to an increasing demand for tools for machining large components.

Performance in the milling of titanium

In the roughing of titanium alloys for the aircraft industry, the compromise between the volume of spindles and the service life is decisive for the economy. Under this circumstance, the close cooperation between a contractor and his tool supplier proved to be very helpful as the linkage of different know-how resulted in results which offered additional scope for calculation and improved competitiveness.

    Tools for high strength steels

The backbone of the German economy is not the stockmarked and headquarter-producing big companies. The engine and success guarantee are the countless small and medium-sized manufacturing companies in all sectors that characterize the "Made in Germany" world-wide. Companies such as MS machining in Lampertheim-Hofheim am Rhein and its innovative tool supplier Horn in Tübingen.

Michael Schwab, Managing Director of MS-Zerspanungstechnik, Thomas Massinger von Horn and the milling cutter Uwe Hendrich said: "The cutting tools from Horn achieve by far the best results in all our fields of application."

    Precision tools for precision toys

Technical toys for "big boys", or brass-glossy jewelery and jewels for desks and showcases, these are the Stirling engines from Böhm-Stirling in Neustadt an der Aisch. Sparkling high-gloss surfaces and high-precision manufacturing - shape and function - external and internal value arouse the desire for possessions or deliver "the" gift idea for good friends. However, high-quality workpieces are only produced with high-quality production equipment. It is therefore only logical that HORN tools play a significant role in the precision machining of Stirling engines.

The Werzkeug & Maschinenbau Heidelberg, abbreviated WMH, sees itself as a solid, reliable extended workbench for its customers. His strengths lie in the fastest possible processing of orders, delivery reliability and quality. Because in a company with this orientation, universality and flexibility are also high, it is also dependent on universal machines and tools. With the tool specialist HORN, WMH is a partner who, with its milling tools, precisely covers this profile. No wonder 90 percent of the tools used are labeled "HORN".

Highly productive and process-safe serial production

If a manufacturer of circular boring machines proposes the hard metal milling tools of the well-known specialist HORN on the basis of a good experience, and regardless of the customer's desire for precisely these tools because of his equally good experiences, this is a double confirmation of the qualities of the large-scale tools from Tübingen. This decision, taken years ago, has now been confirmed ten million times positively.

    Highest precision

It is obvious that a manufacturer of precision tools also uses its products in its own production. However, if the tolerance is ± 2 μm, the best cutter is just good enough. And whoever has to look at the result, does not matter which manufacturer he comes from. In the toolmaking of Paul Horn GmbH, one was very deliberate about horn cutters - for good reasons.
